Basic Assessment Study Group – Session 1

The BBKA Basic Assessment is an exam for beekeepers who have managed at least one colony of bees for a minimum of 12 months.

·The aim is to provide new beekeepers with a goal which will give them a measure of their achievement in the basic skills and knowledge of the craft.  Members who managed their first  colony last year will have the necessary qualifications for this year’s course.

The benefit of taking the Assessment is that it increases your knowledge and demonstrates your competence as a Beekeeper.

The course consists of four informal indoor meetings where we study the syllabus, followed by a mock practical assessment at the apiary.

Study Groups are a proven way of helping beekeepers who have kept bees for more than one year explore the craft in greater depth through self-study, as well as building important  social links within the association. The meetings will take place fortnightly during March/April for members who wish to gain knowledge and experience at the basic level.
