Mike SLATER (of Butterfly Conservation, Warwickshire) has had an interest in Butterflies for many decades and has been actively involved in their conservation by helping to maintain and improve the environment in which they live and breed within Warwickshire.

His presentation will cover all of the species that live in Warwickshire and why we have seen a tremendous decline in numbers over the past decades.  But he will also detail how recent conservation of their feeding and breeding habitat has enabled some species to slowly recover and replace the decline in numbers and geographic coverage.

Honey Bees will, of course, benefit from this nectar rich habitat the Butterflies need to feed and breed.  Mike will explain how we can all do our ‘bit’ to help this recovery by creating  diverse habitats which will help any number of flying insects.
