Beekeeping Taster Day

Interested in beekeeping but not sure exactly what is involved? Our Taster Day is the perfect answer!

The day provides an informal and low cost opportunity to find out more about the craft before spending money on courses and equipment.

With practical demonstrations (but no live bees!) our experienced beekeepers will be available to give advice, guidance and tips.

This could be your first step to a most interesting and rewarding hobby.

Our next Taster Day will be held on Saturday 31 January 2026

£25 for the day** (10am – 4pm) incl Tea/Coffee & Cake!

**Payment is not due until nearer the time, but we are happy for you to reserve and secure your place in advance and will keep in touch meanwhile.

Introduction to Beekeeping

Our introductory course is designed to teach you everything you need to know to start keeping your own bees, and is led by our very experienced members.

The course begins with a comprehensive collection of interactive indoor education sessions on alternate Wednesdays from February to April at 7pm in Luddington Village Hall.

Once the weather has warmed up we move to the Training Apiary, also in Luddington, for live bee handling lessons on Sundays from 1.30pm. Here you will put your learning to the test, practice hive management skills, and learn from new and long-standing members.

The course fee also includes membership of the Stratford-on-Avon Beekeepers’ Association (SBKA), membership of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and Bee Disease Insurance (BDI) for up to three colonies.

2026 Course Dates:

Wednesdays: 18 Feb, 4 & 18 March, 1 & 15 April – Theory
Sundays: 19 & 26 April 2026 2-4pm Practical Sessions
(Practical Hands-On sessions are weather dependent so we
may need to be flexible with these dates).

Course Fee: £100 per person OR  £150 per household**

**Payment is not due until nearer the time, but we are happy for you to reserve and secure your place in advance and will keep in touch meanwhile.
